Ascentria is a non-profit that offers a broad spectrum of services, especially services for children and families. We offer two foster care programs in MA, Intensive Foster Care and the Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program. We are urgently in need of more foster parents in the Brockton area, and we continue to recruit, train, license, and support new foster families during this pandemic.
May is National Foster Care Month, so it is an important time to raise awareness about foster children. These weekly webinars are our way to honor Foster Care Month while also recruiting new families during the pandemic. There are over 430,000 children in foster care in the U.S., and about 11,000 in care in Massachusetts. This means that there are literally thousands of children in need of the support of a foster family; Ascentria has an ongoing and increasingly urgent need for foster families. This is a fact that is intensified by the current pandemic, as this crisis has added additional stress to families. Ascentria is proceeding virtually with foster parent applicants during stay at home orders, so those who are interested should feel empowered to reach out now. Children need us now more than ever!
