Teacher Appreciation Ideas from Teachers!

By Rachel Ives - Publisher, Macaroni Kid Bridgewater-Brockton May 2, 2017

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8th – May 12th. Everyone wants to show their kids’ teachers how much they are appreciated. We all know that teaching is not an easy job! So what the heck should you do to show your appreciation for them and all they do for your kids? Well, we asked some local teachers what gifts they would suggest!

Here is a quick rundown of their suggestions. You may look at some of them and not thing they seem like very good gifts, but remember, teachers buy a lot of things for their classroom out of their own pocket so anything you give them to offset those costs is like putting cash in their pockets.

 1. Anything that the classroom may have run out of by this time of the year
    Tissues
    Clorox Wipes
    Glue Sticks
    Pens/pencils/markers/highlighters/dry erase markers/crayons

2. Gift Cards
Teacher Pay Teachers – this was highly recommended, a lot of teachers mentioned this and said that even a small gift card ($5-$10) goes a long way for them on this website.
    Lakeshore Learning
    Teachers Rule
    Walmart/Target

3. Notes
Just a simple handwritten note of thanks or a drawing done by your child

4. Other ideas that were mentioned
    Nail Salon gift card
    Movie Passes

From this list you can see that you don’t have to be a Pinterest Mom to show teachers that you appreciate what they do. In fact, from the suggestions we saw, it sounds like they prefer that you keep it simple.
